On Saturday December 11th 2010 the Shrewsbury Masonic Hall was filled to capacity to witness the Consecration of a new Mark Lodge. The Roses and Castles Boaters' Lodge of Mark Master Masons No. 1922 is for Brethren who have an interest in British Waterways and Narrowboats. The Lodge name, “Roses and Castles”, is derived from the generic term for the distinctive paintings found on these boats and their accessories; floral sprays of roses, daisy's and the ochery-cream towers of imaginary castles set on a background of blue sky and misty distant mountains. With 28 Founders and 6 Candidates eagerly awaiting Advancement this new peripatetic Lodge is well secured for the immediate future. It will meet 3 times each year, mainly during the summer months, and will travel beyond the boundary of the Province. A fourth meeting, held over a summer weekend, is planned to included ladies and family. The first Master is W. Bro. Graham Holden, PAGDC., His Wardens are W. Bro. David Moore and W. Bro.
